(2nd Update, May 2, 2019) This is to inform you that FR. ANGELO A. SILERIO, S. J. died suddenly this morning at World Citi Medical Center, Aurora Blvd., Quezon City. He had been staying briefly at The Jesuit Health and Wellness Center, while undergoing treatment for a neck problem, hypertension and other ailments. Fr. Boboy seems to have suffered cerebral bleeding causing a sudden seizure and collapse. Rushed to the hospital, he could not be revived. Fr. Boboy, 46, entered the Society on 30 May 1995 and was ordained to the presbyterate on 8 April 2006. Requiescat in pace.

Wake: The wake is on Wednesday and Thursday in the Oratory of St. Ignatius, Loyola House of Studies, Loyola Heights, Q.C. Daily wake Masses at 8 p.m. After the Thursday evening wake, his body will be brought to Ateneo de Naga University, where he has currently been O.I.C. Principal of the Junior High School. The wake in the University Church will be on Friday and Saturday.

Funeral Mass: On Sunday, 5 May at 4 p.m. in the University Church of Christ the King, Ateneo de Naga University.

Interment: Jesuit community cemetery, adjacent to the church, after the Funeral Mass.

BIOGRAPHY OF FR. ANGELO A. SILERIO, SJ (1973-2019)

Fr. Angelo “Boboy” Agna Silerio, S.J. was born on 24 March 1973 in Camaligan, Camarines Sur. He attended primary education at Naga Parochial School (1980-86) and high school at Ateneo de Naga (1986-90) where he also finished AB Economics in 1994. Prior to his entrance to the Jesuits, he worked for a short while at Jollibee Foods Corporation in Naga.

He entered Sacred Heart Novitiate on 30 May 1995. After two years, he was in Loyola House of Studies to undergo a year of juniorate and two years of philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University. He spent his two-year regency at Sacred Heart School-Jesuits in Cebu City where he was assistant campus minister and outreach program coordinator. Afterwards, he returned to Loyola House of Studies and completed Bachelor in Sacred Theology from Loyola School of Theology and M.A. Pastoral Ministry from AdMU in 2006. During his theologate, he also served the community of Jesus Nazareno in Payatas. He was ordained to the diaconate on 10 September 2005 by Bishop Honesto F. Ongtioco of Cubao in the Oratory of St. Ignatius, Loyola House of Studies. And on 8 April 2006, he was ordained priest, together with Frs. Lester Maramara and Jonjee Sumpaico, in the same chapel by Bishop Francisco F. Claver, S.J., bishop-emeritus of Malaybalay.

Fr. Boboy’s first assignment as a priest was assistant parish priest, director of Fr. Leoni Memorial High School, and missionary especially among the Umayamnen tribe of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon (2006-09). Then, he was assigned to Myanmar as teacher of English and formator at St. Aloysius Gonzaga English Language Institute (2009-10). Back to the Philippines, he served as minister at San Jose Seminary (2010-11) while studying Anthropology at UP-Diliman. From 2011 to 2015, while minister of De la Costa House, he was also delegate for regents (2012), a student of Environmental Management in AdMU (2012-14), and minister for the Province Infirmaries (2013-14). In 2015, he was briefly assigned to do ministry in Ateneo de Naga University. On the same year, he left for tertianship in Dublin, Ireland. When he returned to the Philippines, he was assigned to Jesuit Residence, AdMU to continue his studies in Environmental Management. In 2016, he was back to AdNU to hold several capacities: university ministry (2016), human relations officer for leadership succession planning, campus minister for senior high school, and house treasurer (2017-18), and O.I.C. principal for AdNU Junior High School from 2018 until his time of death. Fr. Boboy was supposed to begin a new assignment at Sacred Heart Mission Station in the Diocese of Kalookan beginning on second semester of 2019.

In his 23 years as a Jesuit, 13 of those as a priest, Fr. Boboy, who died of intracerebral bleed at 9:14 in the morning of 30 April 2019 at World Citi Medical Center, Quezon City, has been most loved for his humility, goodness, and generosity by all kinds of people wherever he was assigned. His sudden demise is felt by many.

After two days of wake in the Oratory of St. Ignatius, Loyola House of Studies, AdMU, his remains will be transferred to Naga City. Funeral Mass will be in the University Church of Christ the King, Ateneo de Naga University on 5 May 2019 at 4:00 p.m. R.I.P.
